Big Santa Fun

September 2025 Concord & 9th

The September release from Concord & 9th is all about holiday - Trees and greens, and holiday scenes and Santa himself! I’ll be adding more variations, so check back again later.

Techniques:

  • The die for this Santa is so big, that I thought it could be a shaped card panel on its own. Because the Santa is actually a fairly simple stencil, I also thought it was fun paired with the striped background, so I did both – I made a shaped card front, paired with a full background by using a hinge behind the Santa.

    • I die cut two of the Santa die. On one of them, I let the top of the die hang off the end of my cutting mat so it didn’t cut the top of the head. I scored that part and folded it over behind the inside/back stenciled panel.

    • I then attached the front stenciled Santa panel to that blank folded one.

  • After stenciling the Santa panel, I stamped the “Merry Christmas” and embossed it with Silver.

  • I used a paintbrush to apply some glittery Astro Paste on the “fur” part of the hat and around the edges of his beard.

  • For the inside panel, I blended the diagonal stripes from Sea Glass to Tidepool.

  • I stamped the arched sentiment inside, but didn’t realize until after I’d stamped it in bold black ink that the center of the arc was a little wonky. Instead of starting over (which I did consider) I die cut an ornament from the Holiday Charm Inlay Die and “hung” it from the sentiment – as if it was being pulled down by it.

  • I added a few trees from the Accordion Tree Farm Dies for additional detail, and a few little decorative die cut touches on the front as well.

Colors:

  • cardstock: Concord & 9th Poppy, Sea Glass, Tidepool. White.

  • ink: Concord & 9th Pink Lemonade, Brickyard, Nectar, Sea Glass, Tidepool, Black

Techniques:

  • I stenciled Santa the same as above, but this time added some glitter Astro Paste to his mustache shadow.

  • The Lemongrass background panel is stenciled with the “berry” portion of the Merry Mix stencil pack and silver Lunar Paste.

  • The Ho Ho Ho is embossed in white on Brickyard cardstock, and die cut. I also die cut a second piece of Mushroom to attach as an offset shadow. That is attached to the card front with foam tape so it pops out in front of the other elements on the page.

Colors:

  • cardstock: Concord & 9th Brickyard, Lemongrass, Mushroom. White.

  • ink: Concord & 9th Pink Lemonade, Brickyard, Nectar, Mushroom, Black.
