Peaceful Poinsettia - Three Ways
with Gina K Designs
These cards feature some products from Gina’s October 2025 release, and focus on the Peaceful Poinsettia series that’s part of the release. (If you were part of the Scrapbook & Cards Today Crop & Create Delivered Cardmaking Fall 2025 virtual event, you were lucky and got all these products in that kit.)
As usual, I like to find different ways to use the products, so here are three of the ideas I came up with.
Techniques:
I knew I wanted to make a card featuring the Peaceful Poinsettia, but I also loved the detailing in the Scrolled Gift Card Holder and wanted to find a way to use that scrolled pattern as more of a feature on a card.
I cut the scroll die four times out of the same color of cardstock, and lined them up to create a patterned band vertically on the card. I trimmed off the edges of the pieces that create the pocket, and then layered a black band over the center seam to add a grounding contrast for the poinsettia. Embossing the sentiment on that also ties in with the gold on the poinsettia.
For the background panel, I chose cardstock a shade darker than the scrolled pieces. There is a splatter stamp in the Seasonal Patterns and Phrases stamp set that is perfect for adding just enough detail, so I used that on the background cardstock.
For the poinsettia: I wanted to do gold embossing on red paper because I thought it would have a stunning impact.
After embossing, I wanted to add more depth so I stenciled the leaves using a deep red and a red-purple ink to add depth to the different layers of leaves.
Gold Nuvo drops in the center added additional shine and shimmer to complement the gold embossing. By both swirling the drops to fill the space and also adding some additional drops on top it created a texture and additional layer of detail.
Applying the finished poinsettia with foam adhesive adds that depth and shadow that really helps it stand out.
Techniques:
For this one, I stamped the poinsettia in black on acetate to create a window for the shaker.
While I gave that time to be sure it was dry, I cut the poinsettia die from a 5x7 dark green cardstock panel. I used the evergreen stamp from the Seasonal Patterns and Phrases stamps to create an evergreen background using embossing ink for a tone-on-tone effect.
For the inside of the shaker, I used a coral piece of cardstock for a variation on the classic red color. I chose pink shaker gems in assorted sizes to fill in the shaker, and accentuate the less-traditional color combination.
The pair of label dies from the Scalloped Gift Card holder die set was the perfect size for a greeting. I used the larger / base layer on gold metallic cardstock, which ties in with the gold prismatic effect on some of the gems inside. A few gold Nuvo drops around add some flow and connection with the gold.
Techniques:
I created a white poinsettia for this card. I stenciled it with some soft pink and peachy colors just for a touch of dimension, and then added a layer of Astro Paste over it all.
I also added the Astro Paste to some branches of berries and leaves that I stamped in black on orange cardstock. The paste gave everything that frosty look that is so fun for winter holidays.
For the base of the card, I created a double z-folding gatefold out of white cardstock. I cut a front panel out of magenta, cut it in half vertically, and then stamped the plaid stamp on each piece with watermark/embossing ink, making sure that the pattern lined up when the card is closed and the panels are side by side.
I stamped a greeting in black on the inside, and then used that splatter stamp in both soft pink and orange to tie in the colors on the front.
