Layers of Leaves
This card shows off the Botanic Shade Stencils from Kristina Werner Design, along with some other products from her August 2025 release.
Techniques:
This card is a z-fold card, with a shorter fold for the front panel. This means it is less wide than the back 4”wide panel, so a portion of the design on the “inside” shows on the front. I used a 5.5”h x 8.5” piece of cardstock to create this, which is a super easy size since it is just half of a standard letter-size sheet.
I started with the Wood Lines background stamp, and stamped it only on a portion of my panel so it would show on the front, but not the inside. I embossed it white, because I wanted the white lines to show as I stenciled.
As I stenciled the layers, I did a little blending within each layer. See the pictures below.
Layer 1: Clementine and Grapefruit
Layer 2: Clementine and Grapefruit again. I also blended a light layer of Creamsicle on the open (white) areas after completing the stenciling for this layer.
Layer 3: Pimento and Rainforest. You can see in the photo below that I did use mostly Rainforest, but added a bit of Pimento in at the tips of some leaves.
After scoring and folding that stenciled panel, I added in some orange loops for additional pattern and a little geometric touch. To make it easy to create loops of different sizes so I could pick and choose what I wanted, I just left the dies on their backer and placed one of my pre-cut card panels on the whole thing to die cut. (See the fourth image in the group below.)
I also added a second circle on the inside panel (this one in Grapefruit)
For the greeting, I combined one of the die cut words (stacked for dimension) with some of the stamped secondary messages on a bright white circle. I added that to the front panel with foam tape so it hangs beyond the fold.
I added a second circle inside, mostly covered by the front panel when closed, as a place to write a short note.
