Cherry Nice x 4

July 2025 Concord & 9th

I got out the Cherry Nice products from Concord & 9th to create a card or two. As usual, I was debating which direction to go and which products to use… and suddenly ended up with 4 cards and pieces left for more. Here’s a quick look at each, with colors listed and links to products below.

Techniques:

  • I wanted to go bright on this card, and I think that shows. :)

  • This background is created by inking one side of the embossing folder, so the ink is pressed into the card panel as it embosses. (I did a few passes of inking and pressing.)

    • I left the ink uneven in some places, and along one edge of the card panel. I like the visual texture it creates (like on a canvas, or with plaster) and the artistic style it adds.

    • Though I did most of the inking with Sprout, I added a touch of Starfruit in some areas on one pass, for a little more depth. (Also, I think I need to re-ink my Sprout, so that helped fill it in without it getting dark.)

  • The cherries are cut from bright warm colors, and the stems and leaf from cool.

  • To provide color balance on the card, I used the cooler colors to stamp the sentiment blocks.

Colors:

  • cardstock: Concord & 9th Dragonfruit, Watermelon, Pimento, Oceanside, Blueberry and White.

  • ink: Concord & 9th Starfruit, Sprout, Oceanside, Blueberry

Techniques:

  • I wanted to try the full turnout to create a bold single-color pattern. The Black on Poppy is not a high contrast, but it certainly shows well and is the bold look I wanted.

  • I used an asymmetric arrangement for my single cherry and the single sentiment block. It is a loose take on a color block approach since the cherry is mostly pink and the sentiment block is white.

Colors:

  • cardstock: Concord & 9th Dragonruit, Sweet Pea, Poppy, White.

  • ink: Black.

Techniques:

  • Here’s another with the Turnabout, but for this one I used two colors on top of colored cardstock. I knew the Nectar would have a very soft look on this Watermelon cardstock, and also used Watermelon for two rotations so it would layer on the cardstock to create more variation. (Note: You can also create more variation with a single color by inking one rotation more.)

  • The large cherries are done in similar colors to the background - all variations of warm red/pink colors. I did some ink blending on the die cut cherry parts to add some depth, and took advantage of the highlight shape that’s part of the dies.

  • For the sentiment, I used the die cut “sweet” and then did partial stamping of a sentiment so I could have the “Hello” and “Friend” above and below the “sweet” rather than in one line.

Colors:

  • cardstock: Concord & 9th Sweet Pea, Watermelon, Poppy, Pimento, Oceanside, Lakefront, White.

  • ink: Concord & 9th Watermelon, Pimento, Nectar, Black.
