Lovely Layers & Butterflies
The Cottage Countryside Release from Honey Bee Stamps
The April 2025 release from Honey Bee Stamps is full of all things spring, serene countryside scenes, and some thoughtful sympathy sentiments. See the whole new release here.
Techniques:
The background is stenciled in white and a light blue that’s just a step more saturated than the cardstock color. I used 3 of the 4 stencils in the stencil set.
Each of the monochromatic butterflies is cut from a single color of cardstock, and then ink blended with the coordinating ink color to add darker shading for contrast and depth.
I chose one of the frames from the Antique Layering Frames to provide a background. I trimmed it to have it run off one edge, and stamped the sentiment on that. I added that frame piece to the background with 1/16” thick foam to add some nice dimension and shadow at the edges that really highlights the decorative corners.
The butterflies were added with s mix of liquid glue and thin foam squares for additional dimension.
A sprinkling of very pale blue pearls add to the flow and interest to finish off the card design.
Colors:
cardstock: Concord & 9th Sweet Pea, Pimento, Clementine, Powder
inks: Concord & 9th Sweet Pea, Pimento, Clementine, Aqua Sky, Harbor. Hero Arts Unicorn White.
