Long Line Roses - 3 ways

These cards are created primarily with products from the Kristina Werner Designs May release - at Concord & 9th. To see the whole new release, take a look at this link here.

I have another one coming, but wanted to go ahead and share these.

Techniques:

  • Ever since the new 2025 colors came out, I wanted to create some things with the Pimento/Starfruit pairing.

  • I also wanted to play with the Long Line Roses stamps and the wavy stitched Finishing Touches die together. (I have more ideas for this.) I like the way the lines both have some wavy curves (especially in the leaves of the stamps) but the line weight, pattern, and interaction with connecting lines varies between the two. Similar but different creates both smooth interaction, and satisfying variation.

  • The Starfruit color shows up in three ways on this card:

    • as a highlight within the roses, usually blended with Grapefruit);

    • as a highlight on the leaves, blended with Avocado;

    • as the bold left side stitched border.

  • The greeting is die cut from Pimento, but has layers of Mushroom die cuts stacked underneath it. This creates extra dimension, and provides some contrast to help it pop off the background - even the rose with the Pimento ink.

  • Overlapping the edge of that stitched-pattern border strip breaks up that vertical flow and directs the eye to the right, through the greeting the stamped images.

Colors:

  • ink: Concord & 9th Pimento, Grapefruit, Starfruit, Avocado, Mushroom.

  • cardstock: Concord & 9th Pimento, Starfruit, Mushroom.

Techniques:

  • I wanted to focus on the line art of the roses here, without the color filling in the spaces. I stamped the two roses in a blend of inks from Plumberry to Briar Rose to Wildberry, rotating my card 180°between the two roses.

  • Along the bottom edge, I added a subtle pattern of the Country Ticking background stamp along the lower 34” of the card, using Pebble ink.

  • The “Sending Hugs” is stamped in black in on gold metallic cardstock, and stacked on some Wildberry and Plumberry die cuts for shadow color and dimension.

  • To create more motion on the card, and to tie in the gold of the greeting, I used the same Country Ticking stamp at the top edge, but only toward the top left corner. I inked the stamp to intentionally have an irregular edge where it overlaps the roses. (It almost mimics how you might show rain falling, or a similar pattern.) I stamped this in clear embossing ink and used gold embossing powder.

  • A few small drops of Nuvo Crystals finish things off, and help visually connect the gold embossing and greeting.

  • I mounted the card panel on a base of Plumberry and Wildberry to tie in the stamped colors of the roses. You could create this with ink blending, or you could cut the two colors with mitered corners and connect them on the card base, as I did here.

Colors:

  • ink: Concord & 9th Plumberry, Wildberry, Briar Rose, Pebble.

  • cardstock: Concord & 9th Plumberry, Wildberry, Wheat.
