Fishy Fun
I have a few cards to share that combine some of the underwater friend stamps (and dies) as well as the arch dies from the release.
You can take a look at the complete Friend Like You release from Simon Says Stamp HERE!
Approach:
Both cards feature the A2 Arches, as well as the Under Water stencils.
Techniques:
This one features a saturated red-orange card front, with a small arched window.
Through the window, you see the wavy background created by using blue-green inks. The card front color and the wavy pattern are complementary colors (opposites on the color wheel) which gives them a good energy together.
I colored the cute little shark with alcohol markers, and attached him on a wobbler so he’s wiggly - which seems to fit his personality. The fact that he actually pops forward through the arch on the front of the card adds to the fun.
The cover panel has subtle underwater bubbles stamped all over it in a tone-on-tone way to add subtle detail.
Colors:
cardstock: Concord & 9th Pimento.
ink: Simon Says Stamp Seafoam, Marine, Cadette.
Techniques:
This one is similar with the waves through the arch, but this one is not a window. The wave colors are more blue, and the arch is larger to frame the underwater scene. I splattered the stenciled background with water to give it more of an underwater effect.
The stamped images (colored with alcohol markers) are tucked behind and overlapping the arch to create a scene that feels more engaging.
Colors:
cardstock: Concord & 9th Peacock.
ink: Simon Says Stamp Seafoam, Marine, Cadette.
Techniques:
Here’s another card I shared on Instagram for a recent hop. It uses the same wave stencil and A2 Arch dies, but some other undersea stamps from the release.
Again on this one, I created some perceived movement between the frames created with the arches, and between the layers. There are sea critters on each layer, which adds depth and interest.
Colors:
cardstock: Concord & 9th Lemongrass, Lakefront, Oceanside, Blueberry.
