Techniques:
For this card, I imagined these embossed Squoval Dies as speech bubbles like in text messages, using one for the house image and one for the greeting.
I stamped the house and a scattering of clouds before die cutting, so I didn’t have to worry about stamping over the debased areas. The smaller greeting shape is also stamped in black and then die cut.
I used watercolors to add some detail and warmth to the house scene.
To tie in the background with the colors in the house, I chose some natural kraft colored cardstock and stenciled the Leafy Greens on that in a slight shade darker. It adds a bit of classic ivy covering mood to the card, which felt right.
When I added the Squoval shapes to the card front, I glued on the large one with the house, and then popped up the greeting on foam so it has more dimension.
Techniques:
Multiple cuts of the Glow On shadow and word dies. The word cuts are white, but I did the shadow layer in three colors that shift from deeper to lighter in an analogous color group. Offsetting them creates a feeling of movement or energy that makes the design more dynamic.
The background die (Nifty Star Plate) is not new, but felt like the perfect style for the vibe I wanted to pair with this Glow On greeting. I layered the die cut on a solid background that is a darker shade of the die cut for a depth and patter that wasn’t too distracting. (Notice that those two colors add depth to the rainbow I created with the word shadow dies by extending that color sequence.)
I topped it off with a sentiment from the EZ Strips pre-printed sentiments that are part of this release.
Thank you for visiting! I hope you get to create something soon.
