Now, check out my card cards, and then go see what else is in the hop:

Techniques:

  • I started this card by choosing my colors and cutting a few sizes of eggs out of these bright spring colors. I made sure that I cut each color out of two sizes, so that if I used them both it would add some variety to the design.

  • Once I had the eggs cut out, I arranged them on a sticky mat in my MISTI stamp tool. This allowed me to stamp the Pinwheel Party background stamp onto a group of the eggs at once. I stamped with embossing ink and used clear embossing powder, which is a great technique because it works on the variety of colors without having to clean the stamp and swap colors in between. I like the way the embossing powder adds a bit of shine and multiplies the color a bit so it is a touch deeper.

  • The eggs have the touch of embossed shine, and I gave the background some texture also by using the Halftone Dots embossing folder. The small dot pattern relates to the eggs, but the scale difference between that and the large eggs creates a good balance and hierarchy. They work together, but do not compete for attention.

  • I added another layer of dimension by attaching two of the eggs with foam adhesive. (The others are glued on.) Those two eggs (the large orange and deep pink ones in the middle) combined with the sentiment create a visual triangle and focal point for the card.

  • That sentiment is super easy, and created by simply die cutting the Easter EZ Strips sentiment sheets with the Rounded Rectangle EZ die. (Again, the rounded corners of that die tie in nicely with the other round shapes used on the card.) I left the sentiment strips white because I knew that would contrast nicely with the saturated colors on the rest of the card.
